Therapeutic Horseback Riding

Therapeutic Horseback Riding is a mounted program with specific objectives to learn independent riding skills. The program is tailored to individual student needs and may include aspects of the Therapeutic Horsemanship program. Students build confidence, self esteem, and leadership skills while learning to ride the horse. This program is open to private and group lessons.

Skills taught may include:

  • Safety Awareness – Learn how to read a horse – safely work with a horse
  • Horse Handling – Learn how to work with a horse – how to approach, halter, lead, tie, tack
  • Riding Skills – Learn how to ride – correct body position and use of natural aids (hands, legs, seat and voice), steering, gait transitions (halt, walk, trot, canter)
