In June 2015, we successfully completed our pilot program for individuals who are visually impaired or blind. This program was made possible through a generous grant from the Miami Foundation. Beginning in December 2014, 7 riders, ages 9 – 15 years old, participated in therapeutic horseback riding and horsemanship lessons. Over a 10-week period, each rider participated in a 60 minute private lesson and learned about horse care, grooming, putting on tack and riding. Participants also had the chance to participate in the Special Olympics and Ride For The Roses Horse Show.
